Municipal and Domestic Water Use: Community Public Groundwater Systems

A substantial amount of groundwater in the Pathfinder to Guernsey subbasin is used to supply community public water systems. Based on the listing of public water systems in the subbasin that are registered with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), more than 5,249 people rely solely on groundwater sources of supply for their community public water systems. The Town of Glenrock uses the highest amount of groundwater of any subbasin municipality, averaging 600,000 gallons per day (gpd).

The locations, populations served, and sources for these and other community public groundwater systems are listed in the following table. A map showing locations of municipal subbasin wells that are permitted to produce more than 50 gallons per minute (gpm) and public water supply system surface water intakes can be seen by clicking here.
