Industrial Water Use: Groundwater and Surface Water Use

The quantity of permitted water use for industrial purposes in the Lower Laramie River subbasin is the third largest of permitted industrial use in the seven subbasins of the Wyoming Platte River Basin. The major industrial use of water in this subbasin is for electrical power generation. Other uses of water for industrial purposes in the Lower Laramie subbasin include mining and mine reclamation, road and bridge construction and maintenance, aggregate processing and cement production, and miscellaneous uses. Permitted industrial water use in this subbasin comprises approximately 13.3 percent of all permitted Wyoming Platte River Basin industrial water use for both groundwater and surface water combined. Permitted groundwater and surface water use composes about 2 percent and 98 percent of industrial permitted water use, respectively, in the Lower Laramie River subbasin.
