United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) records indicate that there are 20 non-community public water systems within the South Platte River subbasin, and groundwater is utilized by all of these systems. The USEPA reported that the population served by these systems is 6,359 people. Groundwater is the sole non-community domestic water supply source is this subbasin.

The total number of rural domestic wells in the South Platte River subbasin is estimated to be approximately 6,607. This indicates that approximately 16,766 people are served by rural domestic groundwater wells in the subbasin. The following table shows the estimated rural domestic water use breakdown per county within the subbasin. As seen by clicking here, 97.5 percent of rural domestic South Platte subbasin water supplies are derived from wells located in Laramie County.
