Wind / Bighorn River Basin Advisory Group

		The River Basin Planning Process was initiated in 1999 and planning began in the Green and Bear River Basins. Since its inception in 1999, basin plans have been completed in the Bear, Green, Northeast Wyoming, and Powder/Tongue River Basins. In March of 2001 the State Legislature authorized funding for the continuation of the Statewide Water Planning Process. Based on this authorization, the Wyoming State Water Planning Team has started the planning process in the Wind/Bighorn and Snake/Salt River Basins. Both Basins are scheduled for completion on December 31, 2002. The Wyoming Water Development Commission (WWDC) has contracted with BRS Inc., of Riverton, Wyoming to complete the Wind/Bighorn River Basin Plan.
The Wind/Bighorn River Basin Plan will incorporate public participation from the Wind/Bighorn Basin Advisory Group. In the May 2001 inaugural meeting, the Basin Advisory Group was formed, representing a broad range of interests from agriculture to local government. This group, through regularly scheduled meetings, will provide input on important water planning issues, review planning products, and assist with the water planning process. The meetings are open to the public, and all interested individuals are encouraged to attend.
