Bear River Basin Water Plan
Technical Memoranda

SUBJECT: Appendix D
Summary of Key Structures and Diversions

PREPARED BY: Bear River Basin Planning Team

Introduction:

For the purposes of basin modeling, diversion records and other data has been gathered for key diversion structures within the basin. For the purposes of this study, “key” diversions were generally defined as those typically diverting at least 10 CFS or those structures having other regulatory or operational significance within the basin. The remaining smaller diversions were modeled on a cumulative basis within each reach of the surface water model. A listing of the key diversion structures with approximate locations is as follows.

Other Wyoming Key Structures

B.Q. DamN 41° 51' 46.2"W 111° 00' 33.0"
(Incorporates B.Q.West, B.Q. East, B.Q. McFarland, and Weston Pumps)

Pixley DamN 41° 56' 21.0"W 110° 59' 21.3"
(The Pixley Dam is a Primary Compact Control Structure – 57% of water passing Pixley is allocated to Idaho, and 43% to Wyoming. The Pixley structure diverts water to the Pixley East and West canals located immediately upstream.)

Tri-Diversion StructureN 42° 05' 41.2"W 110° 56' 41.6
(The Tri-Diversion is a flood control structure rather than a diversion structure.)

Diversion Locations: Schematic mapping of all Wyoming diversions (including smaller “non- key” diversions) is shown in Figures 1 through 4 on the following pages. Approximate latitude and longitude coordinates are listed above. Detailed location mapping, including associated irrigated acreage is found with individual diversion memorandums hereafter.

Detailed Diversion Data: Detailed information relative to each of key diversion is provided in individual memorandums hereafter.
