This dataset contains information on the boundaries, quadrangle names,
and most recent revision and publication date of the source topographic
maps by the USGS for their 1:250,000-scale series for Wyoming.
This dataset was developed for the purpose displaying 1:250,000-scale
quadrangles, also it has been used for clipping other data layers to
specific 250k quadrangles.
The dataset's original extent, coordinate system, and data format have been altered. The dataset has been clipped to the extents of the North and South 4th level hydrologic unit code watershed boundaries. The coordinate system has been changed to Lat/Long NAD 1927, and the data format has been converted from an ESRI coverage to an ESRI shapefile. These data alterations occurred in the Spring of 2003 for use in the Wyoming Water Development Commission's Platte River Basin Plan.

This coverage was generated as a grid with latitude/longitude points
as input for the corners of Wyoming. After the corner points for
each quadrangle were generated, additonal coordinate vertices were
added along the axes of the grid every 3 minutes for more accurate
projections.

the 1:250,000k quads.
The coverage was created with the Arc/Info Generate command, using
the fishnet option to create a regular grid corresponding to the
2-degree blocks of the 1:250,000-scale quadrangles. Additonal
coordinate vertices were added with the Densify command, every
3 minutes along the axes of the grid. Labels and attributes were
added manually from USGS data.
