Kortes Reservoir

Kortes Dam, Reservoir, and Powerplant are part of the Kortes Unit of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) Pick-Sloan Missouri Basin Project. Constructed between 1946 and 1951, Kortes Dam is located in Black Canyon about two miles downstream of Seminoe Dam. The Kortes Dam site was chosen in order to provide additional ôheadö (water depth) between upstream Seminoe Powerplant tailwater and the downstream Pathfinder Reservoir water surf surface elevation.
