Municipal and Domestic Water Use: Community Public Groundwater Systems

The community public water systems within the Above Pathfinder subbasin typically utilize surface water, but a small portion of these systems use groundwater. Based on the listing of subbasin public water systems registered with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), about 784 people in the Above Pathfinder subbasin rely on groundwater sources of supply for their community public water systems. The locations, populations, and sources for these community public water systems are listed in the following table. A map showing locations of municipal wells that are permitted to produce more than 50 gallons per minute (gpm) and public water supply system surface water intakes can be seen by clicking here.

A total of five community public groundwater systems are located in the subbasin. These community systems use about 167,454 gallons per day (gpd) on average based on information provided to the Wyoming Water Development Commission (WWDC). Estimated peak groundwater usage is more than double average demand at about 366,000 gpd. Several of these systems are unmetered and reported per capita usage could not be verified.
