Process_Step: Process_Description: The NWISWeb database was queried for all sites within the Northeast Wyoming River Basins Planning Area Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) boundaries. The queries results were downloaded as a tab-delimited text file for import into Excel 97. Additional queries were made using the same HUCs with further limitations (all water quality sites, all groundwater sites, all daily streamflow sites, all peak streamflow sites, and all real-time/recent daily streamflow sites) from the site inventory query page. Queries were then made from the water quality query page using the same HUCs with limitations of wells, springs, lakes/reservoirs, and surface water. Queries made from the ground water page (with the same HUCS) had limitations of springs and all wells (collector/Ranney wells, non-collector wells). Each text file was imported into Excel and then saved as a DBASE IV file for import into ArcGIS 8.1. Fields were added to the database containing all available sites to indicate whether the site monitored water quality, whether it was a spring, a well, or what type of streamflow measurements were taken. The fields added to the database were populated by linking the main database with each of the other databases - when fields were shared by both the main database and the linked database, the field was given the value of "yes". All other records were given a value of "no". An x-y event theme was then created using the records from the main database with a horizontal datum of NAD27 and one was created for those records with a datum of NAD83. Each x-y event theme was then exported as shapefiles. The NAD83 data shapefile was then reprojected to NAD27 and merged with the original NAD27 shapefile resulting in the final shapefile.
